Global Mobile Power

At Muncie, Global Mobile Power is not just a Trademark, it’s a promise. Our PTO and Fluid Power Components provide a wide range of coverage for virtually any mobile application anywhere in the world. In 1999, Muncie joined the Interpump Group and with the combined forces of PZB and Hydrocar, the world's largest PTO manufacturing organization was established.

The Interpump Group (IPG) began manufacturing high pressure water pumps in 1977. Innovative techniques in design and manufacturing, developed by IPG, drove it to become the world's largest supplier of high pressure plunger style water pumps. At that time, the focus of Interpump Group was in the professional cleaning and electric motor markets.

With the acquisitions of PZB, Hydrocar, and Muncie Power Products from 1997 to 1999 the PTO manufacturing organization was established. The Interpump Group created the Interpump Hydraulics division and is now producing a wide array of Fluid Power Components including pumps, accessory valves, and cylinders.

MPP is very excited to be a part of the rapidly expanding product offerings provided by Interpump Hydraulics. The combined expertise of MPP and our European sister companies will allow us to design, manufacture, and sell market leading products at an exponentially faster rate.

TG Series PTO Update

MPP is pleased to announce the release of the dual output kit for the TG Series PTO. The kit enables the PTO to have a direct mount flange (MPP’s K Option) and a 1-1/4” round output shaft on the opposite side.

The dual output shaft kit, part number 06TK5168, should be used in conjunction with TG kit style PTOs with the “K” output option.

Allison World Installation Update

We’ve recently learned that Belknap Tools released a special combination of adapters allowing for proper torque application to the PTO mounting fasteners on Allison World Transmissions.

The following part numbers have been used in the field to properly torque all of the mounting fasteners:

50ST-I (Wrench) Calibrated to 45 ft/lb
VB-0906003 10 mm box with 30 degree offset
VB-0906001 3/8” 90 degree socket drive

MPP to Participate in Inaugural MVEC

Muncie is a proud exhibitor at the Institute for Defense and Government Advancement’s (IDGA) Military Vehicle Exhibition and Conference at the Cobo Convention Center in Detroit, MI. The show will feature top manufacturers, service providers, and suppliers to the Military Vehicle Industry. The association also uses this forum to provide advanced education for DoD, Military, and Academic attendees.

MPP has been honored with supplying components on many of today’s most essential Military Vehicles and looks forward to meeting with personnel from this industry.

Question of the Month

Q: How do flow and pressure changes affect hydraulic system performance?

A: Flow and pressure are both required to accomplish work.

First, it is important to understand that pumps produce flow, but not pressure. Pressure results from pump flow meeting resistance. Changes in pump output flow will increase or decrease the speed of hydraulic cylinders or motors. Changes in system pressure will result in changes in cylinder force and motor output torque. A hydraulic system that will not lift a load is likely experiencing a pressure related problem. One that will perform work , only slowly, is likely experiencing a flow related problem.

Properly designed systems will match components with job requirements. Your Muncie Power Customer Service Managers are readily available to assist you with proper system specification.
